2(vi) Unused make-up lesson credits expire June 30th, 2027.
2(vii) Make-up lesson credits do not hold monetary value and cannot be converted into a refund.
3 Instructor absences and make-up lessons for standing appointments. (i) In the event that the instructor must cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson credit will be issued to the student and the lesson will be rebooked as soon as possible.
3(ii) Lessons cancelled by the instructor will be rebooked no later than June 19th, 2027.
3(iii) In the unlikely event that the instructor is unable to rebook a cancelled lesson due to extenuating circumstances, a refund for the cancelled lesson and unused travel fee will be issued to the student.
4. Changing a standing appointment. (i) A student may request a permanent change to their standing appointment out of a need to resolve an unforeseen scheduling conflict.
4(ii) Changing a standing appointment is subject to the approval of the instructor. Once a change has been confirmed and processed, the instructor reserves the right to offer the vacated lesson time to another student.
5. Terminating a standing appointment and refunds. (i) A student may terminate their standing appointment before the term ends.
5(ii) The student has the option to either terminate lessons immediately and collect a refund for remaining prepaid lessons and applicable travel fees, minus a cancellation fee, or waive the cancellation fee by providing written notice three weeks in advance of their intended last lesson to receive a full refund for all remaining prepaid lessons and applicable travel fees.
5(iii) The cancellation fee for terminating a standing appointment is calculated at a rate equivalent to three lessons.
5(iv) If a student provides three weeks advance notice and does not attend a lesson during that advance notice period, the absence will count as a cancelled lesson, resulting in the forfeiture of the lesson fee (and travel fee, where applicable). Such absences cannot be rebooked or rescheduled.
5(v) In the case where the student has chosen to provide written notice, a refund will be issued in the final week of the advance notice period.
5(vi) Registration fees are non-refundable.
6. Masterclass refunds. (i) In the event that a booked masterclass must be cancelled by the student, a full refund will be issued when the appointment is cancelled at least 24 hours in advance.
(ii) a 50% refund will be issued for masterclasses cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment.
7. Health safety for in-home lessons. (i) Students registered for in-home lessons must be prepared to go online at any time.
7(ii) When a student is under the age of 10, an older family member must be at home while lessons take place. While we care for our students’ general safety and well-being and will conduct lessons with utmost professionalism, our services are limited to musical instruction. We will not be held responsible for providing additional care beyond the scope of our services in the absence of an adult caregiver;
7(iii) It is important that students are free of cold- or flu-like symptoms for an in-home lesson to occur. This strict policy is in place in order to protect the health of all in-home students and their family members. If an online lesson is not an option due to logistical reasons or due to the student’s state of health, the lesson, subject to our make-up lesson policy, will be cancelled and considered a missed lesson;
7(iv) If a student begins to experience any symptoms during a lesson, the lesson will conclude immediately and will be marked as a lesson attended and fulfilled;
7(v) Regarding in-home lesson spaces: students/parents are expected to maintain a clean and tidy learning environment. Please dust and sanitize piano keys regularly, as well other pieces of furniture used for a lesson;
7(vi) Ventilating the space is no longer mandatory (as with wearing masks) but is still recommended.
The studio reserves the right to amend the above policies at any time.
